This comfort-oriented massage is customized with a variety of specialized techniques that will meet the needs of individuals who are living with cancer. It is gentle work that supports, nourishes and strengthens the organs and the immune system in order to safely address the symptoms and side effects associated with cancer and its treatment (such as pain, fatigue, and anxiety).

Treatments may include gentle touch, massage, acupressure, reflexology, lymphatic drainage, warm stones, specialized East Indian massage oils and an East/West approach using various points along energetic pathways. Manual Lymphatic Drainage (Vodder Method)

A Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) session aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. This type of massage is very light in nature, about the weight of a nickel. It is very effective for many concerns including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from surgery, radiation therapy, and assists to effect strengthened resistance to illness.

MLD is beneficial for people with chronic fatigue syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome, lupus, fibromyalgia, alopecia (hair loss) and many other health conditions. It is also a good technique to use with elderly people because of its profound efficacy in promoting tissue regeneration and stimulating effect on the immune system. And it is gentle!

For people living with cancer, lymphedema is a major concern. Even if you have had one lymph node compromised from radiation or surgery, you are at risk for lymphedema. MLD has been shown to be very effective as being part of a treatment plan to help people manage their lymphedema. Geriatric Massage

Geriatric massage is a form of massage designed to meet the specific needs of the elderly. The word “geriatric" refers to health impairments that are associated with the later years of life, usually age 65 and older. However, there are some robust 65 year olds and there are some fragile 65 year olds. This type of massage takes age-related health conditions into account.

A Geriatric massage typically runs 30 minutes; upon request, the time allotment and pricing can be adjusted accordingly. It is important that a complete list of medications is included in the health history form. Please check with your doctor first to make sure that you can receive this gentle type of massage.

Body Brushing

Body brushing (also known as dry skin brushing) is a technique that is performed in a gentle, rhythmic manner using long sweeping strokes with the use of a soft bristled body brush. Dry brushing skin that is flaky, dry or even normal is a technique that offers many health benefits, such as exfoliating dead skin cells and increasing circulation. Dry brushing also stimulates lymph flow through the lymph channels, encouraging toxin elimination from skin. This is excellent as a prelude to a massage and pairs well with a Swedish/therapeutic massage session. The price includes the purchase of your own dry brush, which you can take home with you!
