Bonnie Friedman
Wig Stylist

Not everyone makes major life decisions based on medical tests, but I did. I’m what you might call a pre-viver. My mother and other close relatives were diagnosed with breast cancer, and I knew that a BRCA1 confirmation would be monumental for me. It was. As a result, I had a double mastectomy and a total hysterectomy. Also, based on my own experience, I knew how I wanted to give back. I work on my clients with compassion and humor. Nothing gives me greater joy than when someone tells me that I transformed a potentially horrific trauma into a life affirming event. Top This! Gives me the perfect opportunity to do what I love – it doesn’t get any better than this!

Wendi Kamasaki
Massage Therapist

I received my Massage Therapy License in 1994. Since then, I have studied different modalities, including Reiki, Lymphatic Drainage Massage, and La Stone Therapy. After several close friends and clients were diagnosed with cancer, I wanted to look for a way to help relieve the pain, anxiety, and stress associated with cancer treatment. I attended an Oncology Massage Workshop at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas and started volunteering at Texas Oncology Midtown. I am committed to helping my clients receive a healing, relaxing, nurturing experience.

Geri Ruane
Certified Oncology Massage Therapist

I acquired my professional massage license in 2007. In 2010, after twenty-five years as an educator, I moved into massage therapy full-time. Even though I am skilled in a variety of massage modalities that are relaxing, restorative and rejuvenating, I found my calling with oncology massage.

I received my oncology massage certification from the Peregrine Institute of Oncology Massage Training in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

I volunteer at Texas Oncology and at the LIVESTRONG Foundation. I have also assisted with the Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas and am involved with the Rob Hill Just Believe Foundation along with the Oncology Massage Alliance.

I volunteer as a counselor for a cancer survivors, am a patient advocate for self-education and taking personal control of treatment through a personalized plan (vs. the medical system dictating a “fit-in-the-box” solution) and regularly participate in local survivors social group.

My humorous, real-world portrayal of getting through the trauma and recovery from breast cancer, as well as my zest as a patient advocate, has landed me the role of Stress Reduction Mentor and Speaker for many groups, organizations, and events.
